Fundraising History:
Our Norwegian born grandmother,
Johanna Mickman, assembled an evergreen
Wreath and hung it on her door in
St. Paul, MN in celebration of the
Christmas season. Not having any
money, her twelve-year-old son John
V. "borrowed" the Wreath
and sold it to buy her a Christmas
present.
Johanna was upset about his purchase
because she knew her son didn't have
any money, but when she discovered
how he earned the money, not only
was she relieved, but she asked John
if he could sell more Wreaths. This
was the start of a business for her
newly arrived immigrant family. She
continued to make Wreaths until she
was 89 years old.
Johanna's grandchildren, John S.
and Chris Mickman have continued
this tradition over the years and
now their children are involved,
too. We are proud of our heritage,
and strive to provide our customers
with the best Wreaths in the New
World.
